Echo Pop
Echo Pop is a one-tap chain-reaction bubble game. Tap any bubble on a slowly drifting field and its shockwave detonates same-colour neighbours within reach, which detonate their own neighbours, racing through the field as a chain. You have 60 seconds per run, and quadratic scoring (chain² × bonus) rewards patient, well-read taps that trigger huge chains.
How to play
- Watch the bubble field. Same-colour bubbles drift in clusters; let them grow before you commit.
- Tap any bubble to detonate it. Its shockwave reaches every same-colour bubble within ~38 world units.
- Each newly-popped bubble emits its own shockwave, propagating the chain further across the field.
- Score = chain length² × bonus. Chains of 8+ multiply by 1.5×; chains of 15+ multiply by 3.0×.
- After 60 seconds the run ends. Try to beat both your highest total score AND your largest single chain — two separate leaderboards.
Tips
- Wait, don't rush. The longer you let a cluster form, the larger its chain potential. A 3-bubble pop is 9 points; an 8-bubble pop is 96 points.
- Predict before you tap. Trace the path of contagion in your head — which colours are connected by close-enough chains?
- Mid-tier bonuses pay disproportionately. One 8-chain (96 pts) beats five 3-chains (45 pts). Hunt for the next bonus tier rather than spamming small chains.
FAQ
- Why is my chain score so much bigger than my single-pop score?
- Echo Pop uses quadratic scoring: a chain of N pops scores N² points. A 10-chain is 100 points, ten 1-chains is only 10 points. The game is designed to reward predicting the cascade, not spam-tapping.
- How does the shockwave decide what to chain?
- Each pop emits an outward-expanding ring at fixed speed. Any same-colour bubble the ring's leading edge crosses within ~350 milliseconds becomes the next pop in the chain. Out-of-range bubbles are not touched.
- Does the field get harder over time?
- Yes. The run has three implicit phases: warmup (slow spawn rate, 5 colours), push (faster, 6 colours), and crunch (densest, 7 colours). Later phases reward big chains more because clusters form quickly.
- Are there power-ups?
- Not in v1. Echo Pop is intentionally a pure 'predict and tap' loop — the only tool is your read of the field. Power-ups may come in v2 if they don't dilute that focus.
