Sprout
Sprout is an original side-scrolling platformer set across four hand-authored sunlit grassland levels. You run, jump and stomp your way to the flag at the end of each stage, collecting coins, bouncing off enemies and riding moving platforms over gaps. Tight controls — variable-height jumps, coyote-time and a jump buffer — keep the movement forgiving and crisp. Each level has a par time and a coin count that decide your one-to-three star rating, with three lives and checkpoints to keep a run going.
How to play
- Move left and right with the arrow keys or A / D; on mobile use the on-screen buttons.
- Jump with Space, the up arrow or W — hold the key longer for a higher jump.
- Land on an enemy from above to stomp it and bounce; a side or below hit costs a life.
- Roll over coins to collect them and grab a checkpoint flag so you respawn nearby after a fall.
- Reach the flag at the end of the level to clear it; clear under par with every coin for three stars.
Tips
- Tap jump for small hops and hold it for full-height leaps — match the height to the gap so you don't overshoot onto an enemy.
- Use coyote-time: you can still jump for a split second after running off a ledge, so don't panic on the edge of a platform.
- Time your descent so you're falling when you reach an enemy — a downward stomp is safe, a level approach is not.
FAQ
- Is Sprout free to play?
- Yes. Sprout runs free in your browser on desktop and mobile, with no installs, sign-up or downloads.
- How do the star ratings work?
- One star is for reaching the flag. A second is added when you clear the level under its par time. A third is added when you clear under par AND collect every coin in the same run.
- What happens when I lose a life?
- Falling into a pit or taking a hit from an enemy costs one of your three lives and respawns you at the last checkpoint you passed, with a short burst of invulnerability. Running out of lives ends the run.
- How many levels are there?
- Four hand-authored grassland levels, each harder than the last — longer layouts, tighter jumps, more enemies and moving platforms over wider gaps.
